what is Freeback?
FreeBack is a yoga therapy based program to release patterns, stabilize support, and empower new movement. FreeBack has it origins in 2013 after years of observation in yoga classes. FreeBack uses well established principles from yoga and best practices from Western medical anatomy and physiology understanding, as well as the health and fitness industries. Importantly, FreeBack is an active rehabilitation practice, meaning you do the rehabilitation work, rather than an external guide doing it for you. We know in brain re-patterning if you want to permanently repair injury and eliminate chronic pain you must change your core strength, flexibility, alignment, posture and movement patterns.
Your exploration of FreeBack could begin with a 5-Day mini-workshop. It is free and gives you a glimpse of the methodology and practices. You may also choose to sign up for the 3-hour Foundations of FreeBack workshop. There you have a deeper understanding and will experience the full FreeBack Stability and Flexibility class. Finally, you may choose to subscribe to the FreeBack online program, which includes full class experiences, and some shorter practices focusing on specific areas (upper, lower back, hips, shoulders, core, and more!) We also include an experience of yoga nidra, a deeply restorative guided meditation that can create a deep relaxation response in the body because a foundational key to FreeBack is learning to relax and empower your own healing. The key to FreeBack is repetition, repetition, repetition! Therefore, we encourage you to subscribe to the new online version of the FreeBack program, to begin a home practice. This supports the simple evidence emerging from the program graduates, ‘ when you practice regularly, you get better quickly’. It cannot be any more clear than that statement.

What to Expect
Relieve Back Pain by first feeling the area, creating safety with breath, then on to stability, and new therapy movements. Finally return to movements you need or desire in your work, activities, or lifestyle! All in Just 5 Minutes a Day for 5 Days.
Breathe, Relax & release
In this practice, we will experience a full breath to encourage tension release in the lower body.
Neutral & core support
In our day 2 practice we will establish a balanced, neutral structure with core support to begin new movement.
engaging & releasing the front body
In this practice we will feel and engage the overused muscles of the front of the body, and re-engage them to fire relative to neutral alignment.
Engaging & releasing the back body
Conversely to the front body, in this practice we will engage the typically under-engaged back body muscles relative to neutral, to eventually work to compliment the front body and create pain-free balance.
Functional integration
Here we put together all of our new movement and awareness and begin to apply it in Muti-plane movements which prepares you to return to normal activity.
