The Deeply Restorative Practice of Yoga Nidra

This 80 Hour Immersion and Certification provides an experiential and contemplative understanding of Yoga Nidra in both yogic philosophy and scientific research, as well as various applications for deep relaxation, stress management, chronic pain, anxiety and depression.

Yoga Nidra can be successfully used in personal practice, yoga classes, social work, massage and physical therapy, as well as alternative and integrative practices.


Includes:

  • Hybrid training format: Live online with option for in-person (Kelowna BC)

  • Comprehensive Digital Training Manual

  • Development of the skills to lead groups and individuals in a Mindful Rest Yoga Nidra practice

  • Yoga Nidra for specific populations

  • Yoga Nidra Script Cards

  • Access to our library of Mindful Rest Yoga Nidra practices

  • Clinical/Therapeutic Applications with Psychotherapist and Certified Yoga Teacher Zenia Mihevc



Training Overview

Yoga Nidra is a live online training. Each module is a mix of lecture and experiential practices. All live sessions are recorded and will be available here on our course platform to watch again at your own pace, as well as the resource library of practice videos, meditations and learning materials to view at any time. 

Friday - Sunday

  • Friday: 4:00-7:00pm

  • Saturday: 8:00am-12:00pm + 1:00pm-4:00pm

  • Sunday: 8:00am-12:00pm + 1:00pm-4:00pm

Wednesday evening sessions 4:00-6:00pm

Timeless Wisdom

In Yoga Nidra we become submerged in receptive and eventually deeply meditative states of consciousness and brain waves. In this practice we become witness to our body, emotions, thoughts and beliefs. Yoga Nidra is specifically designed to allow you to enter a sleep-like state while remaining consciously alert and awake.

A Certified Yoga Therapist, Sonya has co-founded 2 yoga studios in Western Canada as well as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the US. As a teacher trainer for 20 years, Sonya guides students into an authentic listening and honoring of the body’s innate wisdom.

Zenia Mihevc BSW MSW RSW E-RYT is the founder and clinical director of A Little Zen based in the Greater Toronto area. Zenia’s passion is creating a safe space for my clients on their healing journey towards wellness. Zenia’s depth of knowledge and clincal skills have been recognized across Canada.

Her expertise  includes grief, trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, addictions, interpersonal relationships, acute and chronic health conditions, death and dying, life transitions and aging across the life course. alittlezen.ca

How much yoga nidra experience do I need to do this training?

  • This training is designed to give you a foundational understanding of yoga nidra. Prior experience is not necessary, although you may find it beneficial to practice yoga nidra as much as you can before the training so that your body and mind can be prepared to move easily from sympathetic dominance to a parasympathetic response.

Do I need to be a yoga teacher to do this training?

  • Not at all! This training may be taken for your own personal practice and understanding. This is also a beneficial technique that has been implemented by social workers, therapists and school teachers.

What happens if I miss a live Zoom session or want to watch again?

  • All of our live sessions will be recorded and made available right here on our course platform to catch-up or watch again.

 
 
 

Certification Process:

  • A dedicated practice of Mindful Rest Yoga Nidra prior to the Immersion is strongly recommended

  • A daily practice between the Immersion and Certification

  • 100% attendance to all sessions (including recordings)

  • Practice teaching of 8 group and/or private yoga nidra classes

  • 40 Hours in-person and/or live Zoom instruction

  • 40 Hours home study consisting of prerecorded lectures, reading and homework assignments including practice teaching and final practicum
